Arriving from Denise: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/denisewilson/blog
Stampin' Up! has some fantastic baby stamp sets and matching framelits, but I decided to focus on a great CHILD stamp set - Simply Sports 134312 item. I love the simplistic outlines. There are even 2 stamps where you can add pony tails or hair (see the top of the stamp image sheet). Honestly I did not know what those swoops were until I went on Pinterest for ideas. I thought Stampin' Up! was excluding girls. My apologies to myself for having a moment. Oh and I used the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set 137167 (not pictured) for the background dots. No decorative paper to match your project? No problem. Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set to the rescue. It has 12 background stamp sets that are perfect for many occasions. Of course they match each month of the year for each calendar page in the Perpetual Birthday kit 137950, page 153 AC.
The card base is 5 1/2 x 6 3/4. The Pacific Point circle layer has been crunched up for added texture.
And the real reason I chose the stamp from this set? My son plays lacrosse, and it was fresh on my mind as I just watched him in 2 games yesterday. Go Royals!!!!
To cut out the Go Team greeting I used one of Stampin' Up!s original Framelits, Bitty Banners 129267 page 172 AC. All greetings in this stamp set may be cut out using that Framelit set. Don't you love it when they have a coordinating punch or Framelit?
For the colors I chose as close to my son's high school colors as possible: Pacific Point, Smoky Slate, Garden Green, Whisper White and a pop of silver foil. Good old retired Brilliant Blue is an exact match to the school colors, which might be an issue next spring when I am planning a graduation party. Months to figure that out though. Onward and upward!
Sticking with the theme, I kept my ink colors to 2.
After I planned out my project I thought my LAX player needed some turf. Fringe scissors to the rescue. I learned purse shopping last week that FRINGE is a hot trend this Fall. I may have to play some more in the future with the scissors. 133325 page 168 AC.
A tip for fringing, I cut my paper to a 1 inch width. I would not try working with anything narrower or you risk cleaving the entire piece. I went back in after I fringed it and gave it a trim. LAX places on the some very short turf, after all.
I did add a little bling (just for me), the Silver Metallic Thread 138402 page 159 AC. It is subtle and not at all girlie in this setting. And the silver foil star was cut out of the smallest Framelit in Stars set 133723 page 173 AC. Paper - 132178 on page 148 AC.
