It's Hard to Say Goodbye

The senior pastor for 16 years at our church is retiring. He rebuilt this church when the entire pastoral staff retired 15-16 years ago. Even though we go to a large, some might say "mega" church, he was approachable and often very funny. He was very good at making his sermons relatable to modern life. Pastor Steve was a theater major before he found his calling. It showed in his frequent theatrical monologues. In fact that was my fondest memory of him. Christmas Eve 2005 he did a monologue from the viewpoint of one of the stable workers at the Inn where Jesus was born (if I remember correctly). My daughter was young and of the age of not sure whether anything in the Bible was real. She was truly questioning her place in church and her relationship with God at a very young age in a mature way that some people don't think about until adulthood. Anyway, during the monologue, and I still get choked up thinking about this, she turned to me with big eyes and open heart and s

The Doctor Is In

I had my big annual What A Girl Wants event tonight. Normally my daughter would help me but both kids have the plague that's going around. So my husband came with. He's such a gem. During a lull he was fascinated by the British phone booth stamp in one of the Sale-a-Bration FREE ones (need to look up which one). He says it looks like the Tardis from Dr Who. Having never seen the show, sure. He sneaked behind one of my display boards crafting a something. Said I couldn't look until his masterpiece was complete. He crafted this only the supplies on hand. Like he said, if he had access to my full arsenal of Stampin' Up! supplies who knows how far he would have gone. He says the guy is Tom Baker, doctor number 4. I am clueless. So if you have a Dr. Who fan in the family, consider placing a $50 order and get this stamp set FREE. SEE! Guys can craft too. More on that in the coming weeks. New products just for men. Sound your sirens and visit your Tardis. Happy Stamp
