Reason for my Absence - It is a GOOD One!

I have been very absent from here. There is a logical and sound reason. On June 23, 2019 my husband got a kidney transplant. We got the call at 12:55 am on June 24, 2019 that there was one available. It was a very wild ride leading up to surgery. No one slept, like at all, until Sunday night. Like how could you sleep getting that news? You just can't.

We have, or I have, more to share on this once life settles down.

On top of that, because life continues to happen, in spades, I had surgery scheduled for days after his transplant. It was supposed to be a safe time to have it. The calendar was fairly clear!!! I did move it once or twice because of his transplant. But we discussed it, and decided that it was best to go ahead with my surgery. We can recover together. My pre-op exam would eventually time out (good for only 30 days) and I didn't want to repeat that. And so on. It seemed best to just go forward.

It was my first surgery alone. My son dropped me off early in the morni…

Here are some great tips from Stampin' Up! to put together your truck. You could also use Tear and Tape and trim it to fit.

I will have my own video and post about this great bundle coming soon.

Sunday Reference Day - Card Layer Sizing

I know many of you struggle with layer sizing when designing your projects. I created this measurement chart and a great visual to help you with measurements and designing.

Card Layer Sizing Chart based on a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" folded card

Here are the raw measurements based on a 5 1/2' x 4 1/4" finished card:

5 ¼ x 4” 5 x 3 ¾” 4 ¾ x 3 ½” 4 ½ x 3 ¼” 4 ¼ x 3” 4 x 2 ¾” 3 ¾ x 2 ½” 3 ½ x 2 ¼” 3 ¼ x 2” 3 x 1 ¾” 2 ¾ x 1 ½” 2 ½ x 1 ¼”

You can also find this chart on my Tool Box page.

Original website post on card layers, includes a video!

I hope you find this information useful.

Happy Stamping, Sandy

Make a Wish My Friend

The sweetness of the purples of this card will bring a smile to anyones face. Some of the products are now retired, as I didn't get it posted in time. It happens. With my wrist and should issues (arthritis and many other things), using a computer this past 2019 winter just couldn't happen. See below for an update!
I thought it is still worth mentioning the card, if nothing else maybe you like the layout, or some other materials used in the project. Excuse the mess in the background. It does get cleaned up, and often. Currently I have about a two inch deep pile of scraps, and other materials on my work table as I prepare new samples for the just newly released Annual Catalog on June 4, 2019.
This stamp set was introduced in the Occasions 2019 catalog, and retired during the end of the catalog life cycle in May 2019. Sad, because I really liked it.

Everything is Coming up Daisies

I love this card! It is so bright and fresh. It uses newer colors (mostly) from Stampin' Up! And it came together really fast. I was inspired by a sample I saw on page 23 in the catalog. The sample card is nice, but I wanted more of a color pop. And with using Gorgeous Grape as the main color and adding a pale green, in this case, Soft Sea Foam, it really brings out that purple hue.

A Good Man is Good to Find

From my Live at 5! Let's Make Something on May 29, 2019. That is my live interactive classes on my Facebook page.

I adore this stamp set for so many reasons right now. For one, it is a basic male, family guy, masculine without the hunting and fishing and woods and sports sets we have always had. It pairs well with Beautiful You and Wonderful Moments stamp set, the female partners to this male set.

All three stamp sets are a sketch style line art image. See how easy it can be to make great cards using this stamp set. I do show some swaps I received, giving credit where credit is needed.

Watch me make some easy cards with this great stamp set that you should have in your stamp tool box.

Milestone Birthday Card / Window Card

My friend and upline Denise, recently turned a milestone birthday. See pictures for which milestone! LOL

She loves her dragonflies. So I thought why not combine dragonflies and the milestone for a beautiful card. She also loves more earthy colors. This is one of the perks of making a custom handmade card, you can get quite customized for the receiver.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Dragonfly Dreams 142924 $21
Inks: Soft Suede ink 147115 $7.50, Black Memento 132708 $6,
Papers: Nature's Poem DSP $11 146338, Silver Foil paper 146960 $5, Whisper White 100730 $9.75, Tranquil Tide 144246 $8.50, Soft Suede 115318 $8.50,
Accessories: Detailed Dragonfly dies 142749 $31, Window Sheets 142314 $5, Foam Adhesive Strips 141825 $8, Rectangles Stitched Dies 148551 $35, Burlap Ribbon

For this project I did extend the window sheet beyond the cardstock frame to create a different effect. I love how that turned out. It gives a modern floating frame look to the central image.

To give the dragonfly flight, I stamped …

Adding a Touch of Color to Vellum - Stained Glass

I talked about how to color vellum in a recent post. See link below for full post. On there I give full instructions for how to color your butterfly and supplies used. This is sometimes used to achieve a stained glass look. For this project I just wanted some subtle shading to the image.

Goodbye to an Old Longstanding Friend - Lovely as a Tree

We are bidding a fond farewell to a longstanding friend of Stampin' Up!
Lovely as a Tree 128655 wood  $28 and 127793 clear mount $20
It has been the longest running stamp set, at about 22 years I believe I heard. They made the choice not to carry it forward to what would be the new CLING mount style using red rubber stamps and no wood blocks.
Many of us are quite sad to see it go. It is being replaced with
Rooted in Nature 148217 $42 CLING mount  (originally as wood and clear mount - changing June 4, 2019) Matching dies Nature's Roots 146341 $39

Rooted in Nature is a set that I do love a lot, but there is something so classic and natural about Lovely as a Tree. I will be holding onto my set for my own personal use, like a few others that are retiring this year.
Lovely as a Tree made a great set for general items, scrapbook pages, gifts, masculine cards, sympathy, birthday for anyone, and more. It just works. I do understand though that Rooted in Nature with matching dies, just…
