Happy Halloween

Final resting place for my month of Halloween projects. So much fun I had making  and sharing all these items. Already have some Christmas ones in the works.

Let them eat Cake!

What's a celebration without cake! This cake was modeled after one that Carrie Cudney did at her candy presentation at Convention this summer. I am so pleased with it. It is plenty sturdy. Trust me. This cake has logged tons of miles the past few months and is holding up just fine. The candy bar wraps are 1 1/4" x 3. I sponged each edge. The cake base is an actual plastic cake base from Wilton. You can buy circles in the sizes I needed but it was expensive to do it that way and since I was covering the edge I didn't care that the edge would not be perfect. I purchased a one foot square one inch thick. I used the circle scissor cutter to cut out the desired sized circle template - 4", 5", 6". When you go to cut the styrofoam it is a messy job, probably best done outside. I used the big Stampin' Up! scissors cut the foam just fine. After I started assembling the cake I found I wanted a cover for the foam circle and ended up using my circle patterns. Next

Treat cones

Treat anyone? This banner that spells out treat has been toted around since August and is starting to show its age. Having been left out in 100 degree heat more than once it is still holding together but has a few bangs and bruises.  Each cone uses 2 petal cone dies, cutting off one section of one. I ran each of them through five different embossing folders, it only catches parts of the cones which actually looks cooler. Lots of sticky strip and lots of sponging and lots of the new glitter glue around the scallop edges. I would make one of these again, but design the candy cello tube pendelum much differently. As you can see, with all the tossing around one of the bags is beyond repair. I could replace it but I am not even sure I am going to save this thing for next year. Not really sure what to do with it at all. See above for close ups. I wanted the close ups below but had trouble getting the syntax to allow that. Believe it or not this project was far more difficult a

Spicy Thinking of You

Thanks Ms. Autumn for the cute card from a recent stampin' diva shoebox swap.

Falling Trio

Shoebox swap card from a recent Diva stampin' day. Cannot remember which diva to give credit to. Cute card!

Eek of a Treat!

I just love these little cello tube bags and hope that they don't retire soon. There is so many things you can do with them.

Pocket Treats

Using the petite pocket die, made a nice little pouch for pencils, which was actually supposed to be pixie stix but low and behold try and find them before October in MN, ha ha ha. I had several people looking for me. My son finally found a bag of them a few weeks ago at a small grocer.  Is there a pixie shortage this year?

Ghostly Trio

Simple, super quick ghosts using our Flirtatious fabric and styrofoam balls and a little ribbon. I didn't even cut the fabric, but just tore it, to give it that distressed look. I even put rhinestones around the edge of the glass.

Poisoned Mints

Using the new petite pocket die I cut this out using the now retired thick window sheets. Tip from me: the thick ones were too thick. The sticky strip kept threatening to un-stick.  Use only StayzOn ink!

Haunted Mansion

Actually this was made using the Sizzix milk carton die, which is actually pretty small. Parts of it were run through the spiderweb embossing folder. The window over the door is a cut out from the new triple flower punch. See back side.

Arsenic for your creamer?

Little sour cream style containers filled with M&Ms. Bath salts, bird seed and other items would work two. Simple and quick to make. See directions below.

Who Poisoned the Chocolate?

Another cute way to include candy on your projects. A few chocolate lovers have threatened to actually eat them!

Poisoned Licorice

It's a card and a treat! Really only one licorice easily fits into the cello tube bags, but two looked 2 cute! The black layer actually was run through the spiderweb embossing folder then glittered but the picture does not show that well.

BOOtique

Just a reminder that there are only six days left to take advantage of this special.

B O O Banner

B-O-O I could have cheated and posted one letter a day, but that seems like overly cheating! I think I will make the 31 different crafty posts this month. I haven't blogged this much since I started blogging years ago. Rosettes are all the craft rage right now. Martha Stewart has how to videos, Stampin' Up! Does, and every where you turn. I thought I would be doing my crafts a disservice if I didn't do something for Halloween with a rosette. To make this size rosette, cut 2 3" x 12" strips of decorative paper. Using the new Simple Scored tool, score every half inch across the paper. It is easier to score, 6 x 12 then cut the paper in half, but I always forget, so I end up scoring twice, once for each strip. Duh! Cut a circle one half the size of your rosette, in this case, 3". cut a poor mans circle out of a Sticky Sheet. A poor mans circle is a square with the corners cut off. Adhere it to your paper circle leaving the sticky side out backing on until

Which Witch R U

for a simple card, using the new stocking die from the Holiday Mini catalog, fold an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet in half (I did try cutting it down but parts kept cutting off, whole sheet is the only way to ensure that all the stocking gets cut), place the fold almost to the left edge of the die, run through Big Shot. Run black through for the stocking top, stamp on a greeting, tape on a few stripes of ribbon and you have yourself one witchy card. I found to give it more of that Wicked Witch of the East/West look, stamp your greeting 180 degrees upside down from this card, stand the card on the top of the stocking, it looks like her feet are sticking out of the ground!

Pumpkin Patch

These little balls are super easy and quick and fun to make. You could make a whole patch of them or use different paper and hang them from your Christmas tree.  To make them, cut 12 1 x 6" strips of paper. You get two balls out of one sheet of decorative paper. Stack the paper. Use a Crop-A-Dile or some other strong punch and punch through all the sheets on either end, going in about 1/2" at one time. Thread ribbon through. I used our new In Color ribbon in Lucky Limeade. I like the curly edge for giving a more realistic look. Thread and knot the bottom, make a knot on top, or a loop to hange. I have seen where you leave a long tale on the bottom and thread beads or other punched pieces when it is an item you want to hang, not sit on a table. Sponge the edges of the paper for more dimension. Store ball by sliding paper back into a stack. Also depending on where you place one of your knots can change the look of the ball. I chose to have my bottom knot a shorter distance

Happy Halloween Framed

This was truly a simple Halloween sign to make. I cut a piece of Peach Parfait to 8 x 10 (the size of the frame), sprayed it heavily with my homemade glitter spray using our glitter paint and alcohol.  I cut a circle of decorative Halloween paper to mount behind the 31 to really make it pop.  The Definitively Decorative Decor Element piece was one section I had leftover from last years Halloween multi-image sheet. The photo does not do the super sparkly paper justice. This was a five minute craft item and I love how it turned out. I just wish I could get a better picture.

Pink is for Prevention Event

http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=223973484296230 Saturday at the Maple Grove Community Center from 10-3 is a wonderful event to support Womens Cancer Association and do some early holiday shopping with 48 vendors under one roof. I will be there with my Stampin' Up! booth. They have some really great gift bags to the first 50 vendors. I hope to see you there.

Franken Sucker

Using the Sweet Treat Cups filled with Skittles, and a Wilton candy stick for the sucker handle, I pierced a hole in the bottome of the cup for the stick. Frankenstien was stamped on using Stayzon, it is the only ink that will stick. The backing is a scallop circle punched out of cardstock. These would be a great classroom treat or birthday party favor. With the variety of stamps Stampin' Up! has imagine creating them for your special occasion.

Pick Your Poison

Mr. Skeleton would like a word with you about the poison.  The spider web was made using the Big Shot web embossing folder. I then ran versamark ink over just the raised parts, then dipping my fingers in the dazzing diamonds, rubbed glitter over the paper, shaking off the excess. This gets the glitter into the edges and corners of the web. Its a little on the messy side but who doesn't love glitter in their hair and clothes? Also the small silver piece behind the poison sign is cut from our silver glitter paper available in the Holiday mini until December 31st. Just a small piece really does add some pop. The dot in the "i" is one of the self-adhesive rhinestones.

Wrap some Chocolate!

For a simple, quick and easy gift or decoration, wrap up some of the Hershey, Mr. Goodbar, Crackle candy minis. The size is 1 1/4" x 3". I did sponge the edges for these. Add a bow for some flair, and done. These will be going in one of my final October projects.

Big Shot FREE during October

During October when you join Stampin' Up! you will get a FREE Big Shot! If you have thought about joining my team, this is the special reason to join. Now! Give me a call today.

Glitter Window Sympathy

To achieve this technique you stamp on a piece of card stock. Punch out a shape from cardstock as a layer over your stamped image. Be sure that your punch is smaller than the packing tape you are going to use as the "window". Place the packing tape behind the punched out area. Sprinkle dazzling diamonds glitter on the top side, shaking off the excess. Adhere your layers together. I did have trouble getting a picture that showed the glitter well. In another lifetime I would love to have a product photographer do all my blog pictures. It really does sparkle nicely.

Fall Card

This beautiful card was from our recent Diva meeting where we did a shoebox swap. I do apologize and will give credit to whose card this is when I know. Did you know Lovely as a tree, the stamp set used, is one of the oldest sets still in the catalog. Going on 12 years or more. It is still a valuable set to have and suits so many occasions.

KISSed Up!

Bag up some spookable kisses for a cute and tasty treat.

KISSed

Don't forget to decorate the bottom of your kisses! Grab your 3/4" circle punch and a stamp or two and get busy. The 4 You and hearts kisses where decorated using the It's a Wrap Holidays candy wrapper stamp. It is on page 14 of the holiday mini catalog. The spider (a personal favorite) is from the Piece of Poison stamp set from page 9 of the holiday mini catalog. With the "wrap" stamp set you could have decorated kisses for just about any holiday of the year.

Skelly has no belly

Mr. Skeleton was a piece made for a project I will show later in the month, call that the big reveal! I used styrofoam ball, and candy sticks and a lot of Tombo all purpose glue. He needs to eat some candy, he is wasting away. Muwahahaha...

Black candy cat crossed your path

Did a scary black cat just cross your path? Then maybe it was this little guy made from Stampin' Up!s sweet treat cups. The ears and eyes for kitty were made using the blossom petals builder punch 121088. Wouldn't it be cute to build a whole bouquet out of these suckers? Yes it would!

Gratitude in Pool Party card

I love how good Denise, my upline, that designed this card, is at using the tone on tone look with the pool party base card. Denise is big on using fabric on her cards because it is easy (no scissors required) and in expensive. One piece of fabric will yield at least 36 "ribbons". At $10 for a 3 pack of fabric, that is an unbeatable price. To make the fabric bow, just tear from the long side down the length of the short side of the fabric. It gives it a vintage distressed look. Great idea! Try it today.
