Diva Blog Hop December Gets Punchy

Arriving from Sue  http://stillstampingwithsue.typepad.com/ Or from Denise (there were technical problems)  http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/denisewilson/ blog Yes I am still in the Christmas card spirit. This December we are blog hopping about punches.  Stampin' Up! offers many types of punches: edge, basic shape, flowers (of course), tags and labels, and fun stuff (cupcakes, bow builders, trees and more).  I love punches almost (almost) as much as I love ribbon. I will include Thinlits and Framelits in this, as they cut paper in a shape. If you know Sandy, I do not do well with fussy cutting - as in hand cutting ornate shapes. This is why there are punches people!  Punches used in this card: ornate tag topper 137416, oops, spiral punch is retired (sorry, missed that on the retirement list), note tag punch 135860 DSP: Home for Christmas 139593 Holiday Catalog and Merry Everything Stamp set 135068/135071 Accent: Real Red Pom Pom Trim 139617 Holiday

Countdown to Christmas

Thanksgiving is done and leftovers gone. 25 days until Christmas, hon.  Stamps: none yet (greeting to be added later) Inks: again none Papers: Blushing Bride 131198, Very Vanilla 101650, Basic Black 121045, Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP 139588 Accessories: Blushing Bride 1/4" cotton ribbon 134558, gold metallic thread 138401, 2 1/2" circle punch 120906, tree  punch 135859, Softly Falling embossing folder 139672, Dimensionals 104430 This card is from our recent Diva Day swap where the theme was punches/punch art. Love to look at punch art, but not make it. So I went in a different direction.  The trees were from a previous project where I used the negative space. They have been run thru the same embossing folder as the top layer.  How is everyone doing getting ready for the holidays? I know some of you are likely to be fully decked by now. And shopped. And wrapped. We are just starting the shopping. We have nothing decked. It is our first full Christmas in the house and ther

Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

Tomorrow is the big day!  Today your house is spotless and the kitchen is buzzing with activities of food prep, family prep and more. My house is messy and dirty, as we are far from settled into this house yet. Every day we make progress. Whether it be a new shelf hung, a closet cleaned out or a box unpacked, we are working on it every single day. There is still so much of my parents stuff here, to be sorted, packed or donated. We are all getting burned out of this process and anxious to start the remodel process, but the house is not ready for that yet.  Thanksgiving will be here whether we are ready or not. The Old Country Buffet Turkey dinner is looking like it will be the reality. The tradition will continue as traditions do.  This card says sweet thanks. Thanks for a lot of things, including my readers.  Thank YOU for stopping by! Happy stamping, Sandy

Thanksgiving is 2 Days Away

With two days to go I hope you have your turkey purchased and thawed. Then again who am I to talk. I have cooked a whole turkey exactly three disastrous times. There will not be a fourth, trust me, my family says "thank you" for that. I am a really good cook but for some darn reason whole turkeys elude me. We have turkey rolls about once a month. At this point in my life I am pretty darn sure it is a mental block. Maybe I need my chi adjusted. (smile) Not likely. In spite of my turkey mess, we all have much to be thankful for this year. For my family, we are in a new (okay, really old but new to them) home. My mom is no longer in pain and suffering. Both kids are loving school (how many parents can say that!) I am enjoying Stampin' Up! more than ever. And my husband just hit 20 years with the same company.  I challenge you to be thankful for five things this week. Five things is a pretty full plate folks.  Happy (almost) Thanksgiving! Happy

Thanksgiving Countdown

Thanksgiving is days away. What are your  holiday plans and what traditions do you have? My kids are voting for Old Country Buffet for dinner as that is a tradition my parents started when the kids were very little. It was easier for everyone involved. I really do not want to go as I do not eat most of that food except for the soup and salad. We do need a tradition, whether it be an old one or a new one. We are in a new house and all our local family that we have spent holidays with in the past are now deceased. I think it's time to start a new tradition of some type. The kids say nope. Must stay as is. We have always been a crazy Black Friday early shopper. I am not even interested in that this year. So far no one has listed any gift ideas that make it essential to go out in the cold in the middle of the night and fight the crowds. I do hear "but it's tradition mom".   So, this old fart is ready for some fresh ideas, I see that the kids want to

Gift Tag for the Holidays

Yes. It is the season of giving (and maybe receiving). Which means we like to enhance our gifts with pretty bows and tags and bags and wrap. It elevates the gift, especially if the packaging is handmade.  This tag is the VIP project from my Card Studio event.
