Reason for my Absence - It is a GOOD One!

I have been very absent from here. There is a logical and sound reason. On June 23, 2019 my husband got a kidney transplant. We got the call at 12:55 am on June 24, 2019 that there was one available. It was a very wild ride leading up to surgery. No one slept, like at all, until Sunday night. Like how could you sleep getting that news? You just can't.

We have, or I have, more to share on this once life settles down.

On top of that, because life continues to happen, in spades, I had surgery scheduled for days after his transplant. It was supposed to be a safe time to have it. The calendar was fairly clear!!! I did move it once or twice because of his transplant. But we discussed it, and decided that it was best to go ahead with my surgery. We can recover together. My pre-op exam would eventually time out (good for only 30 days) and I didn't want to repeat that. And so on. It seemed best to just go forward.

It was my first surgery alone. My son dropped me off early in the morning on July 2, 2019. He had summer college (our kids go mostly year round, for many reasons) and he works full time. My friend Tanya offered to drive me home. They didn't want to discharge me without setting eyes on the driver. In other words, good thing I didn't just cab it. i understand, liability reasons. But they were much relieved when they were able to talk to my husband at home and he was lucid to give instructions to, and I was out so fast, my son hadn't left for work yet. Otherwise I think they were going to keep me!

Anyway, I have limited activities for a few weeks. My husband has limited activities for the summer and beyond. Eventually that will normalize. But it has been quite a ride these last few weeks.

I have so much to catch everyone up on, professionally and personally.

Hours after the fateful call about the kidney we held our new catalog Extravaganza. Nope, I had not slept a wink. I got thru it, sounding somewhat logical, or so I hope.

As my activity restrictions lift in the next week or two, I will be sharing the 4 displays I did for the event.

Oh it feels so nice to be back here. I must go though. I am being dragged outside for a short, probably really short, walk.

Check back soon! Sandy
