Travel Memories of 2016

In 2016 my family traveled, a lot! We have memories recorded of each event (or at least they are in the works), but I thought something was in order to remember how much each of us traveled. My family loved remembering this way!

Here is the thing about this page, notice anything missing? It is, after all, a scrapbook page. One normally mostly includes photos. This page required no photos. I could have included a picture from each trip, or something like that, but I really wanted to focus on the story, in this case, the quantity of travel, rather than any pictures. I felt it was distracting from this story.

Do not be afraid to document without photos. That may well be the case, when you finally write down old Uncle Joe's old stories of the war, or when he broke his knee chopping wood. The story becomes the focus, the importance, of that page.

I have been finding a lot of stories recently that I have been working on documenting, where there will be no pictures, or just stock pictures off the internet, because no pictures were taken. In fact, these are the memories I prefer to record right now, the ones that have no pictures, and are just oral, and will likely be lost to time. And sometimes they are the best stories!

So loosen up, record a few pages with no pictures, just the stories. I bet as you get used to it, you will find it refreshing, enlightening even.
